Can you keep Lionhead rabbits and Cashmere rabbits together?

Add comments

I have a Lionhead rabbit and have been looking for a companion for her. I have seen a Cashmere rabbit I like and am considering buying him as a friend for her, is this wise or silly? (I have the time for grooming them)

Rabbits are rabbits, they are all the same species and it depends on the individuals how they will get on. I hope the male you are planning on buying is neutered unless you want literally hundreds of cross-breed rabbits within a year?

It doesn’t matter on the breed, it matters on the rabbits. Rabbits who are kept together must have a daily run to burn off some energy or they can get snappy at eachother and territorial. They should have a large cage, big enough for two. Both should be neutered, even if you were breeding them they can’t live together as it will stress out the doe. Rabbits can be hard to bond. It took me 4 months to bond my Lionhead doe with a Netherland Dwarf buck completely.

Remember you will have to clean the cage out twice as often as you did before :)

    Hope I helped

    Hi there.

Yes, they’ll be absolutely fine. Make sure at least one of them is neutered/spayed so that you don’t end up with many Cashmere+Lionhead kittens!!

I hope I helped. Good luck with choosing a new friend and companion :)
