Bunny Poop ROCKS!!!
And flies SUCK!!!!
So make a fly trap. In a 2 liter pop bottle drop in a couple tablespoons of raw hamburger. Then put a funnel into the top and wire it down so the stem of the funnel extends into the bottle. Then pour some water in, just enough to cover the hamburger.
Hang this near the rabbit cage.
You'll barely smell the rotting meat but the flies will LOVE it and flock into the funnel to dine on its lovelyness. But they are too stupid to get back out so they fall in the water and drown.
When the bottle is about half full of nasty dead flies, cap it and throw it away, and make a new one.

Or better just to raise them into haasenpfeffer?
This is illegal in most states. Who you eat is up to you, but keeping wild rabbits is a nono. Check into this site under "what to do if I find wild babies"
http://homepage.mac.com/mattocks/morfz/rabrefs.html
for more information. Or eat them, if that is your preference.

We were surprised when our two “girl” bunnies became parents on New Years Eve. It’s a science project from God. It would have to be, because I thought I was very careful to get two GIRL rabbits. Here is day 16. It’s incredibly easy to track rabbits age when they are born on New Years Eve. God’s got a great sense of humor and timing.
Bitsy, the dad, is now fixed and they are separated, since he may remain fertile for up to three weeks longer. We’ve since discovered that Bitsy (male) is perfectly potty trained and Trixie (the eating machine mother) is a mess. Perhaps when she stops eating everything in sight she’ll improve.

All of my rabbits babies died. Is this normal in a first time mom?
Thanks for all the help! I have a dutch rabbit. When I found the babies they were out in the cold and spread around the hutch. I thought all four were dead but when I warmed them up three of them started moving. I put her in an inside hutch and she sat on the babies, the next day when I checked them they were dead.
Rabbits aren't really the motherly type. They aren't like dogs, cats, or rats that dote over their babies. They pretty much just will feed them once in a while and then go do their own thing. I don't suggest that you breed that doe in the future.

i have a huge cage 24'x4'x4' it's off the ground and has a nice roof. i intend to build a little room inside for more cover. so there is plenty of shade. just wondering if this is a good idea and which breeds would be best suited for that environment.
That's fine. As long as the cage is raised and protected from the weather you've got everything you need. I would suggest in the small room that you're building create an area where you can slide in cheap insulation. This way when they are cold they can head into the secluded room or if they're warm they can head outside of it. Just make sure the rabbits can't get to the insulation because they will eat it.

I don't know how old my rabbit is but when is he ready for breeding?
And could he still breed younger ?
( I feel really dumb cause I use to raise rabbits but its been so long I can't remember..)
Its unlikely that they breed at that young of an age but it definitely is possible. I would suggest not trying to breed the rabbits that young but it is possible.

My brother has raised rabbits all of his life and showed them. My doughter is now following in his footsteps. We how ever have not had this problem befor. We put the doe and buck together to breed and they would not have anything to do with each other. How do I fix this and what would cause this to happen
there obviously not old enough she isn't in heat trust me you'll no when she is you shouldn't be worried!

I caught this rabbit using this cage set up as a dead fall trap. At first the rabbit would get scared when we approached the cage and would jump against the side of the cage until it hurt its nose. Its calmer now but I haven’t decided what I want to do with him now that I have him. Should I trap more rabbits and raise them for food or should I let this rabbit go after his nose heals? I have 2 kids. One voted to let it go the other voted to raise rabbits and eventually butcher them for food. I think its healthy for kids to know were their food comes from but I’m not sure if raising rabbits for food is the way to teach that lesson.
