These two adorable buns have been living at the Burrow so they’d really like to find their forever home.
Once adopted:
It is ideal for a rabbit to live inside your house with you because it is part of the family. Rabbits should never be kept in the kind of hutch with a wire bottom as it hurts the bunny’s tender feet and most cages are too small for a rabbit to live in. Keep in mind that the smallest space a rabbit can live in is 4ft x 4ft square. Rabbits need just as much exercise as a cat or dog and must have room to run around. Some rabbits live free in the house. The house must be rabbit proofed which means all cords have to be covered or out of reach, no poisonous plants, no animals or children that can harm them and no way to get out. Some live in a rabbit-proofed room and some live in an exercise pen (xpen aka: exercise puppy pens) The Bunny Bunch Boutique carry these and are let them out for exercise in a rabbit proofed room, house, or outdoor predator proof run. Small rabbits need just as much room to run around as large rabbits do.
Toys & Chews
Because rabbit’s teeth are continually growing they need a lot of items to chew. Make sure whatever you provide for your rabbit to chew on is rabbit safe. Chew blocks, untreated willow baskets, willow balls, willow wreaths, pinecones, and untreated apple twigs all make great chews. Rabbits also like to play, some favorite rabbit toys are balls with a bell inside, baby keys and rattles. Rabbits like to have a hiding place to lie in or under such as a bunny tent or cardboard box. Rabbits get bored if left with nothing to do, so you must provide them with bunny safe toys. The Bunny Bunch Boutique is a great place to buy bunny products and support the rescue efforts of the Bunny Bunch.

This is Spirit on about her 3rd or 4th day on leash. She did really great for being only about 7 weeks old. At this time of video (9/2/11), I have 4 unspoken for Lionhead kits. They can all be viewed at http://www.neblionheadrabbits.webs.com/
I spend countless hours to make these babies as cool as possible. I only own 2 rabbits (both Lionheads) that are in total love and create some of the neatest Lionhead kits a person could know. Many people don’t realize how awesome rabbits really are because so many of the ones people buy have been bred by hoarder/millers who stack their rabbits in cages and ignore them (except at feeding). Those are the rabbits that pee all over their cages. I encourage you to do your research on rabbit breeders. Their statements about how many “holes” they own, actually means how many cramped cages their rabbits must live in! The next time you consider buying a rabbit, PLEASE ask the seller if the rabbit you’re buying or it’s parents has ever even been in a house. Possibly the seller will want to tell you anything you want to hear, but more than likely it was born outside or in an ammonia filled barn!
If you truely want a rabbit that is worth having as a companion pet, then you should do your homework and not impulse buy just because it’s Easter. I speak from the heart when I say rabbits are worth more than snake food or meat! Please have a heart too and ask questions before buying the cutest rabbit you see (because a lot of times the cutest rabbit is the one from the miller trying to get specific colors and not necessarily the nicest). Also check with your local humane society for one already spayed or neutered. Too many rabbits are put to sleep every year for no reason, except that some people try to make a living at breeding animals. If you can find a hobby breeder who cares more about the quality of the animals rather than the quantity, you are headed in the right direction. They shouldn’t have much of a “herd”.
Ultimately, it would be perfect if a single litter of pet rabbits could really sell at a price that would feed a household family of 5 for 6 months, so family wouldn’t want to own more than 2 rabbits. Of course millers and hoarders would try to jump all over and take advantage of that idea, but that is where it is up to us to know the difference and not fall into their greed.
Hope this can resonate and make sense. Maybe one day we’ll all get it.

lionhead rabbits
Hi, I’m Zorro, the black and white bunny, and I’m here with my brother, Orion. We are totally bonded to each other so I’m really hoping that we can find a new home for both of us. We are both purebred lionhead rabbits and are only several months old. We sleep side-by-side snuggling close and we groom each other. It’s really quite cute to watch, according to the volunteers. We play together, too.
Our dream would be to find a loving home that would give both of us a safe, warm place where we could lounge and relax and just enjoy life. We are easy to pick up and love so I think we’d make a nice family really happy. Currently, we’re spending our time at the San Jose Animal Care Center (http://www.sanjoseanimals.org/).
