Add comments

I would like to know if its possible if i can show rabbits with out breeding.I wouldn’t want to re home rabbits and not know weather their going to good homes or not.

Yes, you can show rabbits without getting involved in a breeding program. What you need to do first is figure out which breed you want to show and which breeds are mostly shown in the area that you live in. Then, you want to read up on rabbit care prior to getting the rabbit. Once you understand the basics of rabbit care, you will want to contact a breeder in your area that is registered with the http://www.arba.net/ in order to find a rabbit the is more suitable for show. Most breeders do not mind you contacting them and asking them questions and some often have children that are involved in show themselves.

You may also want to check out a show in your area to give you an idea of what happens at the shows and what standards the judges are looking for with the particular breed you choose.

You will need housing for your rabbit, as well as food, timothy hay, toys, water bottles and dishes, etc.

The Netherland Dwarf breed is my favorite. They are tiny and compact and they have wonderful personalities. They are really wonderful to show. I have a retired buck that has 13 legs. (the legs means how many titles he has won) And even though mine are pets now, I still have the urge to get out and show once again.

Yes you can show them even if you don’t want to breed them. It’s a lot of fun but if your not going to breed them then it kind of defeats the purpose of showing them because when they judge them they are judging their structure and overall conformity to the breed standard but you can still show them. If your in the US the you can go to http://www.arba.net and find shows in your area.
