Hi,
Is a Lionhead Rabbit a Long Haired or a Short Haired Rabbit? I know their manes are long, but are they classed as long or short haired?
Thank you
That is a really good question.
I think they are long because their fur on their back is longer than a short haired rabbit.

I caught this rabbit using this cage set up as a dead fall trap. At first the rabbit would get scared when we approached the cage and would jump against the side of the cage until it hurt its nose. Its calmer now but I haven’t decided what I want to do with him now that I have him. Should I trap more rabbits and raise them for food or should I let this rabbit go after his nose heals? I have 2 kids. One voted to let it go the other voted to raise rabbits and eventually butcher them for food. I think its healthy for kids to know were their food comes from but I’m not sure if raising rabbits for food is the way to teach that lesson.

Hi i am a new pet owner so i am wondering if someone can help me. I have 2 male lionhead rabbits they are 10 weeks old but i have found some of their fur in the rabbit hutch I was wondering is it just them moulting their winter coats because summer is nearly here??
First off, you will want to seperate those bucks when they get about 3 months of age. Bucks are very territorial, especially after they reach sexual maturity. (3-4 months)
The loss of fur could be from a moult or it could be from rough play. Because lionheads have so much fur, you will want to be sure to brush them during this time, provide unlimited amounts of timothy hay to get the fur moving through the digestive tract, and you can offer a tiny piece of pineapple to get the digestive enzymes moving about.
Should you notice your rabbit acting lethargic or different, you will want to take them to the vet. Because fur is ingested during their grooming periods, fur can become impacted.

This is a video I sent my sister of our pet Charlie. At the time, my sis was on the other side of the province (about an 8 hour drive) doing art school.
