Lionhead bunny trying to play with Golden Retriever

Our pets think that our lionhead rabbit is some mutated dog or cat, so they ignore him most of the time.

About 3 years ago, this bunny started getting a gimp in his hop. Then one day, he could only drag his back legs behind him. We realized his back legs were paralyzed. We were so sad. We were sure we’d have to put the little guy to sleep. He could still get to his food and water, so we kept saying, “let’s give the little guy one more day.” Day after day, the bunny dragged himself around. Over the next couple months, he started getting better. First, just positioning to sit, then pushing off one leg over and over, then sort of walking slowly. He’s totally fine now as you can see, so we’re really glad that we didn’t put him to sleep. Hope you enjoy the video.

do lionhead rabbits need a different diet then other domestic pet rabbits?

aside from the usual pellet, timothy hay, fresh veggie, wood, etc

Not really, but it is a good idea to feed them a small chunk of pineapple about once a week to keep the wool that they lick from blocking their digestive systems. You also want to keep a continuous supply of timothy hay or alfalfa grass available to them for the same reason. Other then that, their feeding is the same, but they do need to be brushed more often then short furred breeds. The long wool on some part of their body should be brushed about once a month and a bit extra during molts with a whisker brush that you can buy as all pet stores.

How long does it take for a Lionhead rabbit to become fully grown?

What I am asking is at what age does a Lionhead rabbit typically reach it’s full weight. I do not mean how long until it’s mane grows bigger or when can I breed him. How many months until the rabbit will not grow anymore weight wise?

Hi…I’ve been raising and showing rabbits for 10 years. Lionheads become fully mature and fully grown at 6 months of age. And they’re supposed to be between about 3 and 1/2 and 3 and 3/4 pounds, not to get bigger than 3 and 3/4 lb. Also, if you haven’t gotten one yet please consider finding a reputable breeder. It won’t cost you any more if you get a pet quality one from a breeder, and you will get a much healthier rabbit. Hope this helps and please feel free to contact me with any more questions.

How much does it cost for two baby dwarf rabbits?

I am thinking about breeding dwarf rabbits. And yes, I know how to. I have raised rabbits since I was 5 years old. I need a male and female at the cheapest prices. I have all the things I need to do this.

i’m against breeding animals, unless you are actually going to take care of all 10+ rabbits. the guy who buys the rabbits from my accidental litters sells them for 10-30 dollars. though my rabbits are normally lop/mini rex/velveteen mixes.

Where can I find Lionhead rabbits in Southern Oregon?

You should try the Lovely Lionhead Rabbity in Central Point, Oregon. She has great Lionheads that come from very reputable bloodlines. Some consist of Bastets, Pridelands, & Bunny Hutch. Her website is www.lovelylionheadsrabbitry.com She has many colors; Black, Chestnut, Opal, Tort, Sable point, REW, Brokens, Siamese, Chinchilla. I got a couple and I absolutely love them. She only has a about 6 listed on her website so if you e-mail she can let you know more, that is what I did. They are definately becoming a very popular breed to own. Hopefully soon to be an official breed with the ARBA.
